A UI sorority is suing its insurance company for not covering damages it sustained after a tornado destroyed its house in April 2006.
Alpha Chi Omega filed the petition against Continental Casualty Co. on June 29. In the suit, the sorority contends that the company is in breach of contract, because its policy should have compensated for the damages. Continental Casuality has reimbursed none of the damages, according to the suit.
Alpha Chi Omega is asking the insurance company to pay for the damages.
The sorority is working on rebuilding its house at the original location, 828 E. Washington St. The estimated cost for the new house has been set at $4 million; the facility is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2008.
