ALBUQUERQUE, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A University of New Mexico fraternity had its charter revoked this week due to incidents involving alcohol and discovery of a shotgun in the house.
The Albuquerque Journal said Friday that the Kappa Sigma house was ordered vacated by the end of the fall semester and won't be allowed to reopen until the national fraternity organization reinstates the charter.
Kappa Sigma was one of three New Mexico fraternities suspended this fall due to rules violations.
The Journal said the specific incidents involved underage visitors being supplied with alcohol and an August fight that led to the discovery of the shotgun by police.

Story from Hartfod Courant
NEW HAVEN - A Yale University student who allegedly fired off pistol rounds in the living room of his fraternity house over the weekend was arraigned Tuesday on charges of reckless endangerment, threatening and breach of peace.
Yale police arrested David Light, 21, on Monday night at his off-campus frat house, Beta Theta Pi, after confiscating 11 guns - including two illegal assault rifles - and a stockpile of chemicals and ammunition, according to Yale and police. Light, who is entering his junior year at Yale, has been temporarily suspended from school and, according to police, may face additional charges.
On Sunday, a 21-year-old man visiting his brother at the fraternity house on Lynwood Place called police to report an unusual confrontation, according to Light's arrest warrant affidavit. Christopher Keefer told police that early Friday, at 3 a.m., he was in his brother's bedroom when he heard gunshots and ran downstairs to investigate.

The apparent suicide of an LSU-Shreveport student this weekend has sent shock waves through the campus.
Taylor Jones, an accounting major at LSUS, apparently took his life after an argument with his girlfriend at the fraternity house, Shreveport police said
It happened late Saturday night at a house in the 1100 block of Janther Place that was commonly referred to by LSUS students as the Kappa Sigma fraternity house.
Police said after the argument, Jones began hitting his girlfriend with a large stick. Police said another man tried to stop Jones and was also assaulted. When police arrived at the house, Jones was found in a locked room, dead from a gunshot wound.
An autopsy on Jones' body will check for the presence of drugs or alcohol.
Members of Kappa Sigma Fraternity said what happened was totally unexpected.
