AMHERST - With the first full weekend of students on the University of Massachusetts, police are expected to be parked in the Sunset Avenue neighborhood to keep an eye on things - including the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house on Sunset Avenue.
Last year, police, town and university officials met repeatedly to talk about various noise and other complaints and came up with a range of ways to address them, including a greater police presence, including bicycle patrols.
Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house on Sunset Avenue is the only fraternity in the area.
Last year the University of Massachusetts bought five fraternity houses on North Pleasant Street for $2.5 million and then demolished them.
