Delta Upsilon faces sanctions from university

The University of Iowa filed a "notice of complaint" on Friday that
essentially suspends Delta Upsilon fraternity during an investigation into
drug dealing charges.

Five fraternities on temporary suspension for allegations of violating Purdue's policy on alcohol are trying to regain good standing with the University.

Delta Upsilon, 1300 Stadium Ave., and Phi Kappa Psi, 359 Northwestern Ave., were suspended on Wednesday after the fraternities held functions last week at which minors were given or possessed alcohol, said Kyle Pendleton, assistant dean of students.

On Friday, University officials announced three more fraternities - Kappa Delta Rho, 1134 Northwestern Ave., Pi Kappa Alpha, 629 University Ave., and Sigma Alpha Epsilon, 406 Littleton Ave. - were suspended for the same reason.

The five fraternities also violated Interfraternity Council policy that prohibits chapters from holding events involving alcohol during recruitment or Boiler Gold Rush, a week-long orientation program for first-year students.
