National fraternity revokes charter due to declining membership
Jason Buffenmyer returned to campus in the middle of July ready to start a new school year.
The president of Kappa Alpha Order knew his 11 fraternity brothers were excited about their rush plan. The group had worked hard thinking of ways to increase membership. It's a plan they'll never get to use.
"It was my first day back here in the city and to come back and find out 'hey, your house is being closed down' - nobody really saw it coming," the business administration senior said.
The National Administrative Office of the Kappa Alpha Order announced in July they were closing the OCU chapter. The decision ended a more than decade long struggle to increase membership in the small chapter and left the residents of the house scrambling to find housing before school began.
"We've known for years the minimum requirement is so many people," Buffenmyer said.
